From 21 November to 23 December 2008, the area between the Royal Festival Hall and the London Eye, turns into a Cologne Christmas Market.
The London Eye will be lit red, the colour of the remembrance day poppy on the evening of Sunday 9 November as a mark of respect.

Each rotation takes about 30 minutes, meaning a capsule travels at a stately 26cm per second, or 0.9km (0.6 miles) per hour - twice as fast as a tortoise sprinting; allowing passengers to step on and off without the wheel having to stop.
