- Press Release
Speakers including former London Mayor Ken Livingstone, Radio 1 DJ Nihal, historian Dan Cruikshank and broadcaster Robert Elms will tell the stories of a selection of the most interesting and inspirational born Londoners, figures such as Thomas a Becket, David Bowie, Bobby Moore, Michael Faraday, Charlie Chaplin, Jazzie B, Naomi Campbell and John Keats.
At 135m high with breath-taking views stretching up to 40km across the city, the London Eye in collaboration with Antique Beat and A Curious Invitation will host 32 talks simultaneously, on figures from fields as varied as politics, sport, fashion, literature, music, engineering and royalty.
Helen Bull, Marketing Director for the London Eye said: “The London Eye has become a source of great pride for London since we opened in 2000 so we wanted to host a celebration of all those characters who have added to the legacy of this magnificent city. 32 Londoners is a unique opportunity to hear about some high profile figures while 135m above London. It is something we are really excited to offer.”
To commemorate the occasion, Hendrick’s Gin has devised 32 bespoke cocktails, one in honour of each London borough. Each guest will be served a complimentary cocktail during the rotation. Following the talks, there will be an opportunity to share a drink with your fellow participants and speakers and discuss this inspirational event.
32 Londoners has been curated by a Curious Invitation and Antique Beat as a unique experience intended to strengthen the cultural connection of Londoners with the city in which they live and work.
