London from the inside Monday 27th - Sunday 2nd December 2017
What not to miss this December in London? CHRISTMAS!!! Of course London, as ever, is the best city to be in for Christmas and New Year. You don’t even have to do anything except walk around the streets in order to start feeling that Christmas jingle tingle! We would suggest you do so much more though… markets, log fires and ice skating for a start.
THE BEST CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN LONDON
Regent Street - “The Spirit of Christmas” makes the city feel totally magical.
Oxford Street - There’s falling snow all the way down Oxford Street, with hundreds of glittering orbs and lots of twinkling lights in the trees.
Covent Garden - Be careful who you walk through Covent Garden with this December as there are giant mistletoes hanging all the way through the market. With their huge tree too, it looks totally splendid and truly romantic. Don’t forget to pop up to Seven Dials for more light magic.
New Bond Street - “Light as a Feather” with sparkly peacock feathers lining the street is a must see.
Carnaby Street - Making Christmas serious... seriously fun, with their Christmas Carnival complete with neon parrots, palm trees and giant tropical flowers.
THE BEST CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN LONDON
Southbank Centre’s Winter Market - There’s winter themed pop-ups all along the South Bank at the Winter Market which has a Nordic theme this year. Handmade crafts, mulled wine and food ranging from bratwurst and pies, to Asian and vegan street food.
Kingston Christmas Market - There’s over fifty wooden chalets at the market with crafts, decorations and gifts and new this year is the Candy Cane Forest kids entertainment area.
Leicester Square Christmas Market - Back for the second year running the market is right in the middle of the Square with twenty-five food and gifts stalls and an entertainment stage run by the Udderbelly team.
THE BEST ICE RINKS IN LONDON
Canary Wharf - Perfect for an after work skate, open really late and covered with a clear roof so you can skate whatever the weather and still enjoy the lit up skyscrapers around you.
Somerset House - Set in the beautiful Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, have a relaxing daytime skate with friends, perfect your skating strokes at Skate School or party at one of their super cool Skate Lates DJ nights.
Hampton Court Palace - If Henry VIII was into ice skating this is where he would’ve gone - just outside his front door. The open air rink is open everyday until 7th January except Christmas Day.
THE BEST PUBS WITH LOG FIRES IN LONDON
Even if you’re not crazy about Christmas time, no one can resist cosying up by an open fire, particularly in a pub. We’ve picked five of the best winter warmers to dive into across the capital…
Central - Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street
South - Plume of Feathers, Greenwich
North - The Flask, Highgate
East - The Chesham Arms, Hackney
