London from the inside Monday 28th August - Sunday 3rd September 2017
September is great for eking out the summer and making the most of time when the weather is still good (fingers and toes crossed) and the kids have gone back to school. As always London has festivals and things to do galore, and loads of them are free, so put your purse away, it’s on me!
THE TOP TEN THINGS TO DO IN SEPTEMBER
An annual celebration of the river with over 150 events (many free) including talks, installations, exhibitions and performances.
2. Festibowl
For one night only, lawn bowls goes all rock ‘n’ roll on us with a festival vibe that includes street food, cocktails and DJs - get your teams together and keep on the grass.
On 16th and 17th September London will open it’s doors again for us to take tours and visit buildings that we wouldn’t normally get access to. It includes secret buildings, iconic buildings like 10 Downing Street (by ballot only) and The Gherkin, temples, schools, houses and work spaces… and it’s free!
4. Head to the beach
If you didn’t make the beach this summer, don’t panic! Pop ups Brixton Beach and Neverland in Fulham are still open for the whole of September.
GBBO is back and if you didn’t quite make the cut this year you can still take part in London’s own version. It’s got all the ingredients required including the marquee, the cooking stations and the competition.
6. Buckingham Palace Summer Opening
The Palace is open for summer tours until 1st October and there’s exclusive evening tours throughout September.
The fifteenth year of the festival will be returning from 16th - 24th September. Highlights this year include the Villa Walala installation in Exchange Square, Broadgate and Max Fraser’s installation at 100% Design.
One of the big four fashion weeks, it steps out for it’s second annual event from 15th-19th September.
Now in it’s second year and complete with a Podcast Maker Weekend, the festival runs from 13th-17th September and is great if you want a giggle or a guide to everything.
10. Adventure Films Underground
How cool does this sound?... Arrive at 6.30pm for wild cocktails and honey beer (street food available) then head to a tunnel under the Thames to watch three of the best adventure film documentaries.
SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND…
The House of St Barnabas: Saturday Sessions
Live acoustic music, brunch and two-for-one cocktails at 1 Greek Street. Proceeds from the tickets help get homeless people back into work.
EYE ON VAUXHALL…
Visit Vauxhall on Sunday September 10th for Vintage Vauxhall, the best in retro, vintage, antique and salvage shopping. During the week stop by Vauxhall Street Food Garden or go on Saturday 9th September when they are hosting a special event - the London Tequila and Tacos Experience.
